Heiterwang – take your soul on holiday in the Zugspitz Arena

 

 Wonderful mountain backdrops and the crystal-clear deep-blue mountain lakes, Heiterwang See and Plansee all make up the wonderful potential of Heiterwang, at the mouth of Tyrol’s Zugspitz. On a wide valley floor at a refreshing 1,000 metres above sea level is where you’ll find this typical Tyrolean village. Your holiday in Heiterwang is a cheering opportunity for nature lovers and altitude athletes alike, as well as for those seeking relaxation and those looking for adventure.


HEITERWANG IN WINTER


Heiterwang as a gateway to Zugspitzarena is a first choice for winter sports, because in the best strategic position: only five minutes to Tirol's first rail combination with 6 chairs and gondolas 8. Skiers and snowboarders are in the Zugspitzarena total of 147 km of perfectly groomed slopes at the foot. 54 modern lifts lead to the top, runs for every difficulty.

2006 Heiterwang was the venue of the Austrian Cross Country Championships. Cross country (classic and skating), with a total length of about 100 km, connect all villages in the Zugspitz Arena. Because many routes and good snow conditions until spring Heiterwang is a popular touring area. Guided hikes snowshoes, cleared hiking trails, groomed a sled track, the track village with torches and floodlights illuminated, and a natural ice skating rink-enjoy the unique atmosphere on the wintry Heiterwanger lake.


 




Heiterwanger Karlift:



Tow lift with two different downhill runs, 2 km long.
Popular practise lift.
This is used for ski races by various clubs.
Looking after you physical well-being in the Karliftstüberl. Easy to reach with a large free car park.






HEITERWANG IN SUMMER

In summer, everything in Heiterwang revolves around the two wonderful mountain lakes, which together are 8 km long. The Heiterwang See (lake) is up to 75 metres deep. The Heiterwang See and the Plansee are ideals for fishing, diving, windsurfing, swimming or simply rowing. Horse enthusiasts can find numerous riding stables and a carriage express.
Hikers have a soft spot for Heiterwang with its unspoilt natural environment. Heiterwang’s ‘local hill’, the Thaneller (2341 metres) is suited to experienced mountain walkers and climbers. Hikes through the wildly romantic Pitzenbachtal, the Rauchalm or on the farmed upland meadows fill the heart of any mountain walker.
